Hunt Branch Library
Save the Hunt is a
group of Fullerton residents dedicated to keeping the historic Hunt
Branch Library in the public realm for community use rather than
allowing this historic asset to be sold to a private concern. Gifted to
the City of Fullerton by industrialist and art collector Norton Simon,
who once displayed Rodins, Rembrandts, and Picassos in or around the
building, the Hunt served as a branch of the Fullerton Public Library
from 1962 to 2013, when the Fullerton City Council chose to defund it
and lease it to a neighboring property owner. Our efforts have helped to keep
the significant mid-century modern facility designed by world-famous
architect William Pereira from being sold as a surplus property by the
City of Fullerton. The City has chosen a partnership of Heritage/Future
and ArtsOC to develop and provide programming at the Hunt.
